The Rhythm Of the Saints was released in the autumn of 1990. I bought the CD along with a stack of others to play on a road trip through the American east with our sons (then 9 and 6). We’d just watched Ken Burns’ Civil War and were going to check out some of the sites associated with the documentary (followed by a visit to Busch Gardens). We played this CD over and over again on that trip and every time I hear a track from it I’m reminded of our solemn trek to the now peaceful places where so many had died in battle.

Philippe Starck's surreal nine-storey Maison Heler hotel in Metz, France is topped with a 19th-century mansion. The house contains a restaurant, bar and events spaces. Reviews are mixed. I like it.
